How often do you find yourself saying, “There aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done”?With our never ending to-do list, it sometimes seems impossible to check off all of our to-dos in one day. So often, I get asked, whether it’s family, friends or clients, “How do you get all the things done that you get done?” On today’s episode, I’m sharing the five things you can do to save time that have nothing to do with business.

I know in the past I’ve talked about batching things for your business, whether that be social media posts, pinterest pins or blog posts. But I think this is also applicable to your personal life as well.
One of the things that I batch is laundry. I have three large laundry baskets for lights, darks and towels. And I do laundry every Friday night because I don’t want to do any laundry on the weekends. It usually takes about one and half or two hours, and then I’m done. Laundry isn’t stressful now because there isn’t always laundry to fold or laundry to move over. I know exactly when it’s all going to get done each week.
You can also save time by signing up for the Amazon subscription on certain things you buy over and over again. For instance, I do that for diapers. I know I’m going to need them, so it’s a no-brainer to have that automatically delivered to our door.
The third thing you can do to save you time is to hire someone to clean your house. I’m always hesitant to even admit this for some reason because I know I can do this, but again, it also saves so much time. She comes once a month to deep clean our house, and such a great investment to have that off my to-do list each month.
There’s a couple different reasons why we decided to hire someone for this. One being that we have toddlers, and they’re just naturally messy to begin with. And two, I like to have a tidy and clean home. It saves me three to four hours every month to not have to clean the house on a Saturday, and can now spend it with my family instead.
It also doesn’t have to be someone to clean your house. If you have a task that you dread doing each week or month, it might be something to consider hiring out.
One thing that I’ve learned over the years is to ask for help. There’s nothing wrong with saying I’m feeling overwhelmed, and need an extra hand. And in order to have that help, communication is key. And it’s key to the success of me and for my family.
In one of my college courses, it was all about conflict management. And in that class, I learned that the majority of conflict arises when expectations are unmet. So I’ve learned that when I need support, I have to communicate that with whomever, and discuss how I can get that support. Whether it be uninterrupted work time so that I can get the work done faster or something else, it’s important for me to verbalize those concerns, so that I can get that time.
This may seem like a no-brainer. However, it’s crazy how much time we spend on these apps or watching Netflix etc. in one day. If we added up how many times we popped onto Instagram, Facebook or other social media platforms in a day, I bet it would add up to a substantial amount of time.
So when I have a lot to get done, I don’t even turn on the TV or open social apps on my phone. And if I need to for work, I quickly pop in, get what I need and get right back out.
